Despite widespread adoption of electronic health records, under 30% of patients access their health records through portals.
1 Patients who are at socioeconomic disadvantage, or of minority racial groups, have even lower adoption.
2, 3 Digitally engaging patients have several benefits for patient education, engagement, and practice efficiency.
4 These effects are even more helpful among underserved patients.
5 Access and usage of portals have also helped reduce quality gaps, such as vaccinations and screenings.
