Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as an ongoing disruptive pandemic poses significant challenges for the clinician. The pathogen responsible for COVID-19 is severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV2). Although it is primarily a viral infection that affects the lower respiratory tract and lungs, it can target essentially all major organ systems.
