Cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT) is a common condition in cancer patients but management is quite complex. Patients may present to any healthcare professional during their cancer journey. Therefore, these patients may be managed by a number of different specialties, resulting in inconsistent management and suboptimal patient care. Cancer is the highest single risk factor for thrombosis therefore a dedicated CAT service can play an important role in improving both the outcomes and quality of life of these patients.
