We appreciate the opportunity to respond to Dr. Boullosa’s letter of concern [1] on issues brought forth in our two-part review on high-intensity interval training (HIT) [2, 3]. However, we were surprised to read the letter’s content, feeling generally that most comments were off topic, and accordingly offer little to assist the practitioner. Nevertheless, we will use this opportunity to elaborate on certain principles and in doing so outline why his so-called “forgotten pieces” do not fit the training programme puzzle. …
