Die Anwesenheit von Hämoglobin und Myoglobin im Urin führt nach Zugabe von Wasserstoffperoxid (H2O2) und einer ethanolischen Pyramidonlösung (Aminophenazon) zu einer sofortigen Bläauviolettfärbung. Verzögerte Farbentwicklung zeigt eine schwach positive Reaktion an. Wie Hämoglobin so reagiert auch Myoglobin als Pseudoperoxidase positiv.
