Letter to the editor for the article “Comparative efficacy and safety of different minimal invasive pyeloplasty in treating patients with ureteropelvic junction obstruction: a network meta-analysis”

We were interested to read the impressive study by Li et al. in World Journal of Urology [1] and would like to congratulate the authors for their excellent findings about ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) treatment. Li et al. systematically evaluated the safety and effectiveness of four minimally invasive surgical treatment methods in UPJO patients through a pairwise and network meta-analysis based on 6 randomized controlled trials and 381 participants. The authors [1] found that robot-assisted transperitoneal pyeloplasty had a quicker operational duration (SMD = 1.67, 95% CI = 0.27–3.07) and higher surgical success rate (RR = 6303.19, 95% CI = 1.28–1.47 × 10¹¹) than transperitoneal laparoscopic pyeloplasty. In addition, robot-assisted transperitoneal pyeloplasty was the most recommended approach among the four methods. This meaningful research provides valuable evidence for UPJO treatment.
