“Medical progress” is a phrase that raises a huge number of expectations and hopes. It is certainly safe to say that in recent decades medicine has made indisputable progress in curing people. However, the question is whether every step of this progress is also of benefit to the patient. At the same time, the exaggerated promises of improvements in recovery have led to the unrealistic idea that medicine can cure almost any disease. Increasing life expectancy is associated nearly exclusively with progress in medicine. Hence, there is great conflict between the indisputable achievements of modern medicine, its limits and the systematic exceeding of them. …
