Der Schlafgebundene Kopfschmerz ist ein seltenes primäres Kopfschmerzsyndrom des älteren Menschen und wurde erstmalig 1988 beschrieben und 2003 erstmals in die Kopfschmerzklassifikation der International Headache Society (IHS) aufgenommen. Der Schlafgebundene Kopfschmerz gehört zu den Schlafbezogenen Kopfschmerzen. Die Diagnose erfolgt nach den Kriterien der International Headache Society bzw. der American Academy of Sleep Medicine auf der Grundlage des klinischen Erscheinungsbildes.
