Since 1992, Dr. Magnus Forssblad at the Capio Arthro-Clinic in Sophiahemmet Hospital, Stockholm has collected all their ACL cases in an ACL register. Now, he has over 5,000 cases in his own register. Some years ago he contacted the Executive Board of ESSKA 2000 and suggested that ESSKA should invest in a European register. Unfortunately, ESSKA was not interested in this on that occasion. In the meantime, Norway with Lars Engebretsen in Oslo and others in Norway started a Norwegian ACL register in 2004. In Sweden, Forssblad and other Swedes started a similar Swedish register in 2005. Giuliano Cerulli in Italy has recently decided to use the same system as the Swedish register for his large material of ACL injuries and the question is if it is not now time that ESSKA 2000 changes its decision and starts a European ACL register. …
