The Editors of the World Journal of Surgery would like to welcome our newest Associate Editor. Jacques Belghiti, MD is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Transplantation at the University of Paris, Beaujon Hospital. He is known worldwide for his contributions to liver surgery, increasing our understanding of liver disease and the role of resectional and transplant surgery in managing complex liver pathology. He has also contributed several innovative techniques to make liver surgery safer and simpler. Dr Belghiti has published over 630 original articles in the field and is a co-editor of the 4th and 5th Edition of Blumgart’s textbook of liver surgery. He has received many international awards for his contributions, and has served as the President of the International Liver Transplantation Society and the European HPB Association.
