Besonderheiten der Palliativversorgung von Patienten mit Kopf-Hals-Tumoren

Hintergrund

Patienten mit Kopf-Hals-Tumoren, insbesondere in der Palliativsituation, zeigen mannigfaltige Symptome, die die Lebensqualität einschränken und haben ein besonders hohes Risiko für lebensbedrohliche Akutkomplikationen.

Material und Methoden

Die Arbeit basiert auf einer gezielten Literaturrecherche, einem Fallbeispiel und den Erfahrungen des Autorenteams.

Ergebnisse

In der Palliativsituation gibt es für Patienten mit Kopf-Hals-Tumoren ein breites Behandlungsspektrum. Die durchgeführten medizinischen Maßnahmen sollten sich an dem mit den Patienten gemeinsam festgelegten individuellen Therapieziel ausrichten. Verschiedene Indikatoren können dazu helfen, die Patienten mit Palliativbedarf zu identifizieren. Eine vorausschauende Versorgungsplanung für diese Patientengruppe setzt ein frühzeitiges und enges Miteinander der primär behandelnden Teams mit palliativmedizinischen Spezialisten voraus. Vorsorgevollmachten und individuelle Patientenverfügungen für die vorliegende Erkrankung in Kombination mit einem Notfallplan werden als hilfreiche Instrumente empfohlen.

Schlussfolgerungen

Bei Patienten mit Kopf-Hals-Tumoren sollten palliativmedizinische Ansätze frühzeitig überdacht und umgesetzt werden.
