Aim
Although the occurrence of sibling violence (SV) is common, it has rarely been taken seriously, and the associated reporting and research is insufficient. In slow-moving or underdeveloped fields of science, bibliometric analysis provides useful data to increase resources and formulate new medical policies. The purpose of this study was to assess the quality and quantity of articles published to date on the subject of SV.
Subject and methods
We analyzed a total of 309 articles published in the Web of Science database on the topic of SV during the period 1990–2021.
Results
After implementing the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 164 articles published in English were finally included for analysis. When the number of published articles by year was examined, an increasing trend was seen. The authors who produced the highest number of publications were Finkelhor D, Wolke D, and Perkins NH. The United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Israel were the five countries that published the most articles in the field of SV.
Conclusion
The number of articles on SV is very low. The issue of SV should be discussed more in scientific studies in the future.
