In view of the current epidemic of obesity, which is associated with cardiovascular disease, particularly myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, and sudden death and which involves increasingly younger people, new research approaches to weight loss need to be considered. Obesity responds to diet, although continued weight loss is difficult to maintain in the long term. Diets themselves can be excessive which can have adverse effects on health. …
