Helicobacter pylori (
H. pylori) infection affects about half of the global population [
1]. It is known to cause gastroduodenal ulceration and a class-I carcinogen, leading to the development of gastric cancer [
2]. Epidemiological studies have shown higher
H. pylori infection rates in developing and socioeconomically deprived populations with inadequate hygiene [
3]. The spectrum of
H. pylori-related diseases has recently been addressed by bariatric surgery, and some authors have examined the correlation between the postoperative complications of sleeve gastrectomy (SG) and the presence of gastric mucosal inflammation and edema secondary to
