Neue Entwicklungen der Elektrokonvulsionstherapie

Zusammenfassung

Die Elektrokonvulsionstherapie (EKT) ist die wirksamste Therapie zur Behandlung schwerer und therapieresistenter depressiver Störungen. Während die akute Wirksamkeit der Therapie gut belegt ist, gab es lange nur eine sehr begrenzte Evidenz zum Einsatz der EKT als Erhaltungstherapie, was sich zuletzt dank neuer Studien geändert hat. Zunehmend gibt es evidenzbasierte Konzepte zur Weiterbehandlung und Rezidivprophylaxe nach erfolgreicher Akutbehandlung, die auch die Erhaltungs-EKT mit einschließen.
