Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel widmet sich den Kaumuskel- und Kiefergelenkschmerzen. Myoarthropathische Schmerzen weisen in der Bevölkerung eine relativ hohe Prävalenz auf, Frauen überwiegen. Die Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) unterscheiden 6 somatische Schmerzdiagnosen. Bei vielen Patienten liegen multilokuläre Schmerzen vor, die mit Ganzkörperschemata dokumentiert werden können. Bei anhaltenden Schmerzen sind psychologische und psychosoziale Befunde mit Auswirkungen auf Diagnose, Prognose und Therapie die Regel. Sie lassen sich vorteilhaft mit psychometrischen Filterfragebögen erfassen wie den Depressions-Angst-Stress-Skalen (DASS) oder der Graduierung chronischer Schmerzen (GCS). Für Entspannungsverfahren, Hypnose und kognitive Verhaltenstherapie liegen Wirksamkeitsbelege vor. Berücksichtigt wird vorwiegend die zwischen Januar 2006 und August 2015 veröffentlichte Fachliteratur. (Für Beiträge aus der Zeit vor 2006 siehe die 7. Aufl. dieses Buchs [Türp u. Nilges 2011].)
