The most commonly used positron emitting radionuclide is 18 F, and 18 F-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) is the dominating positron emission tomography (PET) tracer in oncology. The use of FDG is supported by the supply of 18 F through hundreds of cyclotrons located in academic centers and industrial settings worldwide. With advances in PET research it has been repeatedly suggested that various peptides that might be more specific than FDG in oncologic studies could be labeled with positron emitting radiometals. …
