We were excited to read the study conducted by Dumas et al. regarding emergency department intubation (EDI) versus operating room intubation (ORI) and time to definitive surgical care [
1]. This study provides excellent insight into the care of the trauma patient, especially when minutes matter. The authors concluded that “…EDI did not lead to more rapid time to definitive surgical care.” We believe their work addresses an important patient care issue, but we have some concerns/recommendations. …
