Dekker et al. [1] proposed an updated definition and scope for behavioral medicine, refining the current definition by the International Society of Behavioral Medicine [2]. The proposed definition of behavioral medicine is generally adequate. It maintains the essential feature of behavioral medicine—the application of behavioral science knowledge to a wide range of healthcare. However, because the proposed definition and discussion of scope may have both academic and political impacts on the future of behavioral medicine, I would like to raise several discussion points to consider. …
