A 21-year-old woman developed hyperglycaemia during treatment with prednisone for steroid-responsive encephalopathy associated with autoimmune thyroiditis. The woman started receiving oral prednisone 1 mg/kg daily. Additionally, she was receiving insulin concomitantly. However, with a high dose of prednisone, she developed steroid-induced hyperglycaemia with blood sugar levels 200−300 mg/dL [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Her hyperglycaemia was controlled, and prednisone was very gradually tapered successfully without exacerbation or deterioration of ataxia. Her treatment with prednisone was continued at a dose of 5mg daily. …
