Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) encompasses simple steatosis, steatohepatitis, advanced fibrosis, and cirrhosis. Transient elastography has emerged as an accurate noninvasive diagnostic tool for assessing hepatic fibrosis and steatosis as compared to biopsy.
