Differential diagnoses of rapidly progressive dementia may include Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), Hashimoto’s encephalopathy, various encephalitis, and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). However, it is very difficult to suspect progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) in people presenting with rapidly progressive dementia if vertical gaze abnormalities and/or axial rigidity are not prominent [
