The severity of the US obesity epidemic continues to grow, with no sparing of the pediatric population. According to the most recent data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the prevalence of obesity among patients aged 2–19 years in 2017–2020 was 19.7%, affecting about 14.7 million pediatric patients in the USA [
