Zusammenfassung

Traditionen werden in der Chirurgie von älteren Kollegen an die junge Medizinergeneration weitergegeben. Häufig sind diese Überlieferungen eher Mythen als Fakten und entsprechen meist einer Level-4-Evidenz. Im Review von Husted et al. 2014 [11] werden einige Traditionen und Mythen im Zusammenhang mit der Knie-Endoprothetik auf ihren wissenschaftlichen Wahrheitsgehalt untersucht. Kritisches Hinterfragen hilft dabei, die Behandlung der Patienten zu optimieren und die Kosten zu senken.
