I have struggled in how to begin to write about my offbeat relationship with George Albee. Oh, it’s not the story telling. That comes easily. No, it’s acknowledging that no new stories (maybe that’s tales) of food, travel, farmers, chickens, Sardina, Florida news columns, or reflections about Connie will be told. George lived life passionately. Peering over those glasses on the rare occasion they did not sit atop his head, you felt he was looking into your soul to determine whether you were a good guy or a bad guy. George believed in good guys. They’re the ones that think everyone deserves a fair shake. The bad guys—they had sold out. Sold out to those who exploited financially and politically the common person. No, George was not one for splitting hairs. …
