Columbia Laboratories is developing a buccal testosterone tablet [COL 1621, Striant™] using its Progressive Hydration technology.1 The testosterone Progressive Hydration Buccal Tablet (PHBT) is intended for sustained delivery of testosterone as hormonal replacement in hypogonadal men. A phase II trial of testosterone PHBT in 66 patients has been completed in two European countries. Preliminary results from an ongoing phase III trial conducted in the US has also been reported.
