In 2003 a small group of pituitary pathologists were invited to Lyon, France to formulate an up-to-date pituitary tumor classification. With the excellent leadership of Dr. R.V. Lloyd, Professor of Pathology at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), the various tumor types were separated into entities. The proposed classification was approved and published by the WHO in 2004. …
