Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) affects many females diagnosed prior to or during childbearing age, who are more often than not confronted with significant insecurity with regard to the effects of their disease on their reproductive system; in particular, how their IBD or medications can affect their pregnancy [1]. It thus is unsurprising that voluntary childlessness can reach 17% in women with IBD, with previous studies documenting a significant correlation between voluntary childlessness and an insufficient knowledge of IBD.
