A 42-year-old man experienced drooling, sedation and orthostatic hypotension following treatment with clozapine for treatment-resistant schizophrenia; he later developed sexual side effects and extrapyramidal symptoms after the addition of haloperidol [routes and durations of treatments to reaction onsets not stated]. The man with a history of treatment-resistant schizophrenia presented with clinical exacerbation; he was receiving clozapine 450 mg/day and experienced side effects including daily sedation, orthostatic hypotension and drooling. Additional treatment with haloperidol 6 mg/day was started without efficacy; he also developed sexual side effects and extrapyramidal symptoms. Haloperidol was gradually tapered and replaced with amisulpride; a reduction in side effects was also noted. …
