A retrospective study of 28 patients who received triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication identified 9 men and 7 women, 37−79 years of age, who developed diarrhoea or loose stool. The patients, who were allergic to penicillin, received rabeprazole 10mg two or four times daily (12 patients) or esomeprazole 20mg twice daily (4 patients), with metronidazole 250mg twice daily and sitafloxacin 100mg twice daily [routes not stated], for 1 or 2 weeks. They developed diarrhoea (6 patients) or loose stools (10 patients) [duration of treatment to reaction onsets not stated].
