Limited physiologic evidence exists to guide the optimal distal extent of the gastric myotomy in the surgical treatment of achalasia [
1]. The functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP) [
2] is a novel physiologic tool that uses impedance planimetry to measure esophagogastric junction (EGJ) distensibility [
