With 87 authors, many known specialists in their field (including those of the editors), this book is outstanding in being a most readable account of the complexities of immune responses to insult, inflictions and cancer, liberally illustrated with excellent concept diagrams describing the inter-cellular cytokine-regulated components of immuno-inflammatory reactions. Most helpfully, the Appendices contain details of the properties and clinical uses of currently available biological therapies; chemical structures, pharmacokinetics and contraindications of the NSAIDs together with brief outlines of their modes of action and adverse effects; and brief details of the clinical pharmacology of disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). …
