Diese Leitlinie betrachtet Risikofaktoren für das Auftreten eines Offenwinkelglaukoms bei Erwachsenen und schätzt ab, inwieweit diese Risikofaktoren regelmäßige Untersuchungen zur Erkennung eines Offenwinkelglaukoms notwendig machen. Das Offenwinkelglaukom ist definiert als „chronisch progressive Optikusneuropathie, die als gemeinsame Merkmale morphologische Veränderungen der Papille und der retinalen Nervenfaserschicht aufweisen, ohne dass andere okuläre Erkrankungen oder kongenitale Anomalien vorliegen. Diese Veränderungen gehen mit einem progressiven Untergang der Axone retinaler Ganglienzellen und mit einem progressiven Gesichtsfeldverlust einher“ [ 1]. Eine Erkrankung am Offenwinkelglaukom wird von Patienten oft erst im fortgeschrittenen Stadium bemerkt, bei dem bereits irreversible Gesichtsfelddefekte vorliegen (s. Abschn. 1 Krankheitsbild). …
