Dr Congram’s insights are appreciated even if they suggest an impending but unlikely apocalypse [
1]. Forensic anthropologists are in no danger of extinction or being overrun by what some may perceive as the pathologist “hordes”, now or ever. However he is absolutely correct to insist that there should be no “fast-track” that will lead to the production of improperly qualified sub-specialists. The central questions are as follows: could a pathologist without post graduate degrees in anthropology be an acceptable candidate? If so what minimum training time is required to produce a competent forensic anthropologist and what experiential or training pathways to certification should be permitted? …
