Roux- en-Y gastric bypass represents a therapeutic modality for the treatment of morbid obesity.
1 This procedure has a number of well-documented risks, including anastomotic leaks, pulmonary embolism, and small-bowel obstruction. Internal hernias represent a specific surgical complication, with an incidence rate of 3.1 % after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y bypass.
