Synchronicity matters! The loss of contraction synchrony between left ventricular (LV) myocardial segments leads to structural and functional alterations that may eventually result in heart failure. Mechanical dyssynchrony (MD) or disparities in wall contraction timing may be secondary to delayed electric conduction, delayed electromechanical coupling, or changes in regional myocardial properties due to ischemic damage or myocardial infarction.
