We thank the author for his comment on the early results of our prospective randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing thulium vapoenucleation of the prostate (ThuVEP) with holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) for the treatment of benign prostatic obstruction (BPO) [
1]. HoLEP has been proven in numerous randomized controlled trials (RCT) to be a minimally-invasive, size-independent method with excellent long-term results [
2], but the evidence for alternative techniques mimicking the HoLEP technique is rather limited. In the current prospective RCT we compared the established HoLEP technique with the alternative ThuVEP technique [
