A woman with a history of epilepsy since 50 years of age, had previously received treatment with carbamazepine, followed by valproic acid. After several years of valproic acid therapy, she was switched to levetiracetam 1500 mg/day [route not stated]. Four months later, her γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) levels had increased significantly to 157 U/L [age at reaction onset not clearly stated]. GGT levels remained elevated over the next 6 months. Analysis also revealed moderate increase in transaminases. There were no other signs of liver disease. Levetiracetam was discontinued and she started receiving lamotrigine. Over the following 2 months, her GGT levels gradually decreased. …
