Der European Resuscitation Council (ERC) gab in den Jahren 1994, 1998 und 2000 Leitlinien zu den erweiterten lebensrettenden Maßnahmen bei Kindern (Paediatric Life Support/PLS) heraus [1, 2, 3, 4]. Die Leitlinien von 2000 basierten auf dem „International Consensus on Science“, veröffentlicht von der American Heart Association (AHA) in Zusammenarbeit mit dem International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Auf der Grundlage evidenzbasierter Auswertungen der wissenschaftlichen Daten zur Reanimation wurden im August 2000 Leitlinien zur kardiopulmonalen Reanimation und kardiovaskulären Notfalltherapie (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care) publiziert [5, 6]. …
