Radionuclide imaging can visualize ongoing cardiac inflammation in patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathies (NICM).
1 While much recent focus has been on using 18-fluorodeoxyglucose (
18F-FDG) to identify active cardiac sarcoidosis, other forms of myocarditis also show abnormal tracer uptake. We describe a patient from Central America presenting with NICM that at first appeared to be a Takotsubo variant, but following cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings suggesting a possible cardiac inflammatory condition, referral was made for
