Tracheomediastinal fistula is a rare condition indicating communication between the trachea and the surrounding mediastinal structure [
1‐
4]. If untreated, the condition can cause pneumonia, mediastinitis, or breakdown of mediastinal structures, such as the large vessels, resulting in a fatal outcome. We describe the successful management, using a self-expanding metallic tracheal stent placed under fluoroscopic guidance, of a tracheomediastinal fistula complicating local tumor recurrence after an Ivor-Lewis operation for esophageal cancer. …
