Chronic constipation (CC) is a common problem in India. Indian patients’ complaint of constipation is based on change in stool form and perception [
1]. Functional constipation (FC) and irritable bowel syndrome-constipation (IBS-C) type are the common causes for CC [
1]. A subset of patients present with alarm features such as age > 45 years, visible or occult gastrointestinal bleeding, family history of colorectal cancer, unintended weight loss, abdominal mass and fever.
