Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in women and has a high mortality rate and a low 5-year survival rate (around 30%). Presentation is typically with late-stage metastatic disease which responds poorly to the conventional treatment of surgery and chemotherapy; most cancer deaths occur in women with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma [
1]. Screening tests employed before symptoms develop using either measurement of CA125 levels, ultrasound, or both have as yet not been proved effective in early detection.
