Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are a group of chronic inflammatory disorders affecting the gut and are phenotypically classified as Crohn’s disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC). They can occur at any age though incidence peaks in the late teens and early 20s. The incidence of IBD is increasing overall worldwide and in children as a subgroup [1, 2]. India is projected to have one of the highest burdens of IBD globally with a predicted surge in incidence of cases [3]. As 10 to 25% of all cases globally are in the pediatric age group we should expect the emergence of pediatric IBD as a significant entity in the next decade. …
