As my appointment as Senior Economic Policy Advisor to the US FDA is ending, this is my final editorial from this position. I would like to thank our Editor, Christopher Carswell, and the editorial staff at PharmacoEconomics, for their outstanding editorial assistance over the past year in publishing several ‘Letters from the Commissioner’s Office’. I am also appreciative of the large number of e-mailed questions, comments and enquiries I received per our ‘FDA Letters’. The feedback was very encouraging. I am happy to continue answering questions as possible in an unofficial capacity after my appointment ends. I will continue to work with the FDA leadership on an ad hoc basis, but not in an official capacity; I will return full-time to the University of Connecticut School of Business after fulfilling a visiting faculty appointment next year at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
