A 55-year-old man developed withdrawal symptoms following a pregabalin abuse. The man had paranoid schizophrenia and a history of misusing psychoactive substances. He was prescribed oral pregabalin 75mg twice a day for his anxiety and to lessen the severity of misuse of illicit drugs. He abused a month's supply of pregabalin in 2 days at a daily dose of 2250 mg/day. Subsequently, he developed withdrawal symptoms, which he described as 'tense, brought down, and in a dark mood' [duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated]. …
