A recent article in Infection offers expert guidance on effective strategies for antimicrobial stewardship directives [1]. Procalcitonin (PCT) testing is gaining utilization as a tool for antimicrobial stewardship programs with an emphasis on its use in decreasing antibiotic exposure in lower respiratory tract infections and sepsis [2]. Despite the growing popularity, guidance for optimal PCT implementation at the facility level is lacking.
