To the editor: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common chronic pediatric rheumatic disease. In JIA, as in other chronic pediatric illnesses, a child’s illness affects the daily activities and functioning of the entire family. Families must deal with illness-related stressors such as the need for frequent medical visits, demands of the multicomponent treatment regimen, and unpredictable illness course.
