Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease affecting 1–3% of the general population.

2 The most common type of psoriasis is chronic plaque psoriasis, occurring in more than 80% of cases. Plaque psoriasis is characterized by erythematous and scaly plaques caused by an excessive proliferation of keratinocytes. Psoriatic skin is the site of an inflammatory infiltrate presumably due to an inflow of activated T lymphocytes. Psoriasis is considered as an auto-immune disease.
