Das Schädel-Hirn-Trauma im Wintersport

Ein Überblick anhand der Sportarten Ski, Snowboard und Eishockey

Zusammenfassung

Im Wintersport sind Athleten im Ski- und Snowboardsport sowie im Eishockey häufig von Schädel-Hirn-Traumata (SHT) betroffen. Während im Ski- und Snowboardsport vor allem schwere SHT von Bedeutung sind, steht im Eishockey das repetitive leichte SHT im Zentrum des Interesses. Hauptursachen von SHT im Freizeitskisport sind Kollisionen mit Bäumen, im Profiskisport Stürze durch technische oder taktische Fehler. Im Eishockey werden 10–15 % aller Verletzungen einer „sports-related concussion“ (SRC) zugerechnet und v. a. durch Spieler-Gegenspieler-Kontakt verursacht. Pathophysiologisch treten hierbei kombiniert Rotations- und lineare Beschleunigungen auf und verursachen eine diffuse axonale Verletzung. Langzeitfolgen in Form von neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen und funktionellen Defiziten sind relevant. Prävention durch das Tragen von Helmen ist effektiv, bei SHT/SRC jedoch weniger als bei fokalen Verletzungen.
